therapy.
I am an integrative, body and movement-oriented psychotherapist, specialising in outdoor creative and ecological practices. I also have a small online practice.
For nearly a decade I have worked outside in public spaces evolving and deepening my practice, and now continue this lineage of work on tenanted, regenerative land in North Derbyshire, where I have an outdoors-indoors shelter for one-to-one and small group work.
I am especially interested in creative and embodied approaches to therapy and personal expression, drawing on influences from ecopsychology, dance movement therapy, depth psychology and a variety of other embodied practices. I often work on the floor, making use of the space, sound and creative materials to supplement the ‘talking’ part of traditional psychotherapy. As a keen lifelong writer and published author, I also work with writing and poetry as part of my practice.
I welcome enquiries from adults interested in exploring different ways of understanding themselves and the world around them. I believe therapy is an inherently mysterious and relational process and ask clients to hold this curiosity with me.
Therapy is offered outside in all months except for the coldest and boggiest, when I move online. We will discuss any access needs on enquiry.
Please note: I offer hybrid format therapy where we meet sometimes outside and sometimes online, so if you live further afield but can make occasional outdoor sessions then please get in touch. Modern life (and tricky geographies) ask us to make compromises, but there is no substitute for the embodied presence of the other in therapy :)
Please get in touch for my currents fees for 2025/2026.
I am a accredited registered, insured psychotherapist (L7) and member of the National Counselling & Psychotherapy Society. I have been in private practice since 2018 and undertake regular post-qualification training and CPD. I receive regular supervision and mentoring as part of my commitment to an ethical, regulated, trustworthy professional practice.
Dream work / Dream tending / Incubation.
Who is dreaming you into being? What world is coming to you in sleep? How can you understand what is being asked? How is the living planet dreaming through you?
As well as therapy, I offer one-to-one dream tending/dream exploration in person and online. These sessions are for those who are already having dreams during sleep, and who are interested in exploring their potential meanings, and ‘incubating’ their images, symbols and messages in waking life. These sessions are therapeutic in depth and approach, and will require the client to start recording their dreams as a regular practice (I can advise on ways to do this).
My approach to dream work is informed by the work of C. G. Jung and contemporary Depth psychology, but remains rooted in the individual dreamer’s feelings, associations and waking contexts, as well as the ecological context that tells us dreams are not always just for us. You may have Big Dreams, anxiety dreams, nightmares or dreams calling you to action - all dreams have something to tell us!
I am a regular dreamer - and have been tending my own dreams as part of my personal and professional life for a long time - and I draw on a variety of ways to explore images, feelings and meaning through:
talking and writing
authentic and improvised movement and gesture
drawing and mark-making
poetry, oracle/tarot & rune stones
Before completing the form, please read the Good For You To Know box below. If that’s all fine, then do drop me a line!
Good for you to know:
I sometimes take periods of leave to travel in the spring and autumn. This can be for 4-8 weeks at a time. I also travel with work on an ad-hoc basis throughout the year. If you require long-term, continuous, weekly therapy I will not be a good fit for you, sadly. I will give you plenty of notice of my longer planned absences. If you also require a flexible approach we might be a good fit!
We will usually have an initial online session to discuss working together and what you are seeking support for as well as to discuss the suitability of therapy outside. This is offered over Zoom and will be the usual therapy fee. For ethical reasons, and because I take safe practice seriously, I do not offer free initial sessions or taster calls. All sessions from beginning to end are held within a contracted, ethical framework that is properly opened and closed.
Therapy is always offered weekly or fortnightly in the first instance. I don’t work monthly except for with those leaving therapy. This is usually for a minimum of 6 sessions. Any less and we don’t have nearly enough time to get to know each other or built therapeutic momentum. Occasionally, I offer very short term blocks of therapy with a particular focus e.g. dream tending.
I only offer therapy to clients based in the UK and Europe where there is a 1-2 hour time zone difference. I do not offer therapy for clients in the US or Australia (my insurance doesn’t cover it) however you are welcome to get in touch regarding other ways of working together!
My online time slots are limited. I will always keep you in mind if you are interested in working online, but it can be a long wait and I always recommend looking for another therapist who has availability in the meantime. I do not make recommendations in this regard - choosing a therapist is very personal - but if I have a sense of potential good fit, I will let you know.
I only work with adults because your little people and teens are special and deserve to be under the emotional support of fully-trained and specialist professionals.
